Machines become creative. Not only do they write poets or compose melodies and pictures on prepogrammed patterns. By now they independently optimize circuits, develop patents and prove mathematical hypotheses. For all of this no super computers and neuronal networks are even needed. Artificial creativity most of the time consists of a few lines of simple code. Nonetheless it is more associative, radical and efficient than its human paradigm. But does this make the mashine really original?

Mads Pankow (*1985) is the publisher of the journal for contemporary culture «Die Epilog» and works as a political consultant on the issues of digitalization and artificial intelligence. Once a year he hosts the «Digital Bauhaus», a boutique conference on the cutting point between technology, design and society in Weimar. He studied media, cultural and organizational studies in Marburg, Malmö and Weimar and focuses on the philosophical and sociological questions of digitalization.
